Look no further than us here at Natural Forces Massage. We have highly trained and experienced massage therapist read to help you . You may wonder (what is a Trigger point massage (also known as neuromuscular therapy)? This type of a massage  is a specialized massage therapy that targets specific points in the muscle to help relieve pain and muscular tension.

What are Trigger Points?

Trigger points are sore, painful spots—commonly referred to knots or adhesions—found in muscles. Applied pressure in these areas tend to be sensitive. (Always let your massage therapist know if the pressure is to much)!  Trigger point therapy helps reduce inflammation in the muscle, which allows the muscles and nerves to relax.

How's it Done?

Trigger point massage releases muscle tension by applying direct pressure onto the adhesion. As a result the inflammation goes down and the muscle relaxes. There are different types of trigger points. These are Active trigger points and Latent Trigger points.

Active vs Latent Trigger Points

Active trigger points when pressed cause pain that radiates through the muscle. These are the ones your massage therapist needs to work out. The sensitivity is due to the area getting tight or overstretched, as a result causing irritation.

When the Body Doesn't Heal on its Own:

This irritation causes the brain to send blood into the area to heal it. However sometimes it is unable the heal the area. This results in inflammation (swelling), which intern presses on the nerve causing pain.

When your massage therapist presses on the trigger point it reduces the blood flow allowing the muscle to relax which results in releasing the trigger point, reducing pain levels.

Latent Trigger Points when pressed do not cause pain. However, the massage therapist should release these as well. A lot of massage therapy is for prevention of injuries and pain.

Are Botox Injections Painful?

There is usually minimal pain involved with Botox injections. Ice can be applied to the area, or a topical anesthetic can be applied 30 to 40 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment. Most people do not require an anesthetic for Botox injections.

How Much Botox Will I Need?

Botox is dosed by the unit. Because all patients are different, not everyone will need the same amount. Typically the area between the eyebrows will need 20 to 40 units, upper forehead 10 to 20 units, and the crow’s feet (the outside corners of the eyes) 20 to 40 units. You will discuss with your injector the results that you want and the areas you wish to have injected. You will be given a suggestion for the number of units you should receive for optimal results. At Smooth Assurance, you will always know how many units will be injected before the process is begun so that there are no surprises at checkout.

What Is Botox Recovery Like?

Usually, clients resume normal daily activities following Botox injections. There may be minimal redness and swelling at the injection sites. This is easily covered with makeup. Although every effort is made to avoid it, there can be some mild bruising. Following Botox injections you might have a slight headache for which Tylenol can be taken, with dosing according to package directions. You should not lie down or bend over for 4 hours following the injections.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox usually lasts 3 to 4 months. Because everyone is different, the amount of time the Botox lasts will vary from person to person.

Will I Look "Plastic"?

Our goal here at Smooth Assurance is a very natural look. You will still have facial expressions. Others will see a more youthful, rested and relaxed you. No one will know you had Botox injections unless you tell them. It is our desire that you love your results so much that you will want to tell your friends. We love referrals!
